A funeral on Hari Raya

  • Nov. 27th, 2009 at 8:38 PM

While everybody else is probably out partying and enjoying himself/herself now because of the public holiday Hari Raya Haji and because it is a long weekend for a lot of people, I just came back from a funeral.

But I think it was very fulfilling to be able to be there for a friend.

I went over to the wake after Thursday midnight, and kept vigilant together with Kevin throughout the whole night all the way till the whole process ended just not long ago and I had not slept yet.

As the night wore on and there was still a long way to go, those still keeping vigilant€ decided to play mahjong and seeing as there was nothing to do, I actually asked Kevin to teach me since it seems like more than 50% of my friends all played mahjong. -_-"

And I even managed to get a hand at 3 sessions. It was still very confusing to me, but I think at least I now understand the basics.

Kevin was very strong hearted throughout the wake till the end of the funeral, a trait which I admired since during some parts of the process I almost felt like crying myself, especially when I had met his father once. I hope he is coping as well inside as he seemed to be on the outside. Though even if not, the grief factor is understandable, and he knows I will be there for him, just as he had always been there for me when I was trying to get over a few terrible heartbreaks.

After everything, I joined him and his family for dinner at the coffeeshop near their house before finally heading back home.

And now... probably going to collapse on to bed soon!

Selemat Hari Raya everybody! (Hey, we are a multi-racial country right? And don't bullsh*t that just because it is a Muslim holiday you people are not out there enjoying yourselves and partying away. So yes, I can still wish everybody a happy holiday!)

Love,
Kes~

Mambo 25 Nov 09

  • Nov. 26th, 2009 at 9:45 PM

Before any post... I am not known to be somebody who swear much, and even if I do swear and curse, it usually is mild and of those rare occassions when they were vehemently vicious, it must have been somethings that really provoked me till I was on the verge of explosive emotional outburst.

I was just going through Stomp early morning after Mambo and just before sleeping, when I saw a posting about a cat that died of strangulation after it was being tied by the neck to a metal bar. The posting had pictures that caused such a strong reaction that I silently cursed the person who did such a cruel thing. The cursings were so strong and venemous that I was surprised despite myself.

I shall not go into details on what curses I swore upon whoever that did such a deed, or I will probably be looked upon as a horrible monster, ha.

But seriously, what with the recent spite of such animal cruelty news, it is really heartrending.

In any case, back to topic...

I met Catherine for dinner at Great World City as usual and she had been going on last week about the new porridge stall and how delicious the porridge was and that she was going to eat it again this time, that I decided to try it for myself too. It sure was absolutely mouthwatering and yummy! And it should actually be called congee instead of porridge, but like what Cat said, no matter what it is called, it sure is delicious! I will definitely go for it again until I finally decide that I am sick of it, haha!

Given the fact that it is the exams period for a lot of schools, a lot of young regulars were not there last night and even more than a few of those who were not studying were not around, maybe because they are friends of those dealing with examinations and decided not to go as well since their friends were not going.

At first, seeing Zouk like a ghost town at around 10.30pm, we thought it was going to be rather empty for the rest of the night. We were proven wrong later on. In any case, as Catherine and I were at Members' Bar, Adrian's girlfriend was there and told Cat that Adrian was working at Bar 2 and asked us to go down to look for him, what a pleasant surprise! Apparently, he's been asked back to work on a freelance basis.

We had some drinks and eventually when Steven arrived, we went to Members' Bar as Steven wanted to drink Flaming Lambo, and that was when Nicole arrived with her friend, and I swore my jaw dropped and I forgot to close my mouth on seeing her friend, he was absolutely cute! Even Zhikai was to remark much later on that he also found the guy to be extremely boyishly cute.

But to be honest, the night was full of cuties once again! Actually, even more than last week! My eyes had a marvellous feast last night, haha!

And I couldn't help but noticed Agnes talking to one guy whom I was earlier on commenting to Cat that he was another cute guy who caught my attention. So much so that I just had to smsed Agnes to tell her that her friend is cute, heh. And she showed my sms to him and replied me back that he said I rocked, ha.

Aaron got drunk rather early, which came as a surprise to me as it was the 1st time I saw Aaron in a seemingly knocked out condition. Petrina helped him off the center platform and seeing some difficulty halfway, I went over to help too but before I could do anything, he puked on to the dancefloor in the midst of the crowd, haha! And all of a sudden, Petrina just carried him off to the corner seats of Bar 2, and he puked again, this time on to the chair, much to everybody's disgusted surprise, ha. I went to get him 2 glasses of water. He managed to somewhat recover later on to be able to enjoy the rest of the night, which, surprisingly, was very good!

It was Catherine's initial plan to go drink at Winebar together with Steven and me when the songs were to get... boring. And she was going to make a move there when Byden played Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night, but I like that song, so I asked that we go to Winebar after that instead, and I was on the top center platform dancing, hopping and shuffling (slightly) wildly to it.

When the song ended though, I forgot what came on next but it enticed Catherine to stayed on. This was when Byden just took over not long and all of a sudden, all the nice songs just started playing after one and another that prompted Cat to ask me if I had asked Byden to play all the nice songs tonight. He even took it to play Summer Rain early!

I did not communicated with Byden that night of course, but his mixing, to me and Catherine at least, was splendid. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we stayed on the center platform for a long time and in the end, just enjoyed the rest of the night away without going to Winebar or getting anymore drinks.

Being on the top platform also provided me with a bird eye's view of the dancefloor and like said, my eyes feasted that night. So many cuties! But among all, Nicole's friend and Agnes' friend were the two that really caught my undivided attention, ha. I would think that Agnes' friend is funkier (in terms of character, body language and dress sense) and probably more fun to be with though, heh. In any case, I like his hat, haha!

When Hush Hush played during Tony Tay's spinning, since SQ was already up on the top center platform, I did a threesome dancing with him and Cat, heh.

Sam had also finally came back to Mambo night after observing a few months of grieving after his grandfather passed away, and I could see that he was pretty delighted last night, he sure did miss Mambo a lot I am sure.

Speaking of passing away, yesterday afternoon, Kevin sent a sad sms of his father passing away due to illness. I took it quite personally as I had actually met his father once before, when Kevin and I were having dinner at a coffeeshop nearby downstairs of his block, and that was less than a year ago, probably only maybe half a year?

I will be heading over to the wake later on.

As examinations are still ongoing, here's once again wishing everybody taking their exams now all the best!

Love,
Kes~

Relapse of memories

  • Nov. 24th, 2009 at 1:30 AM

It happened all of a sudden one morning, I think it was last Thursday. I had not thought about him, I had not done anything that caused it to happen, but I just suddenly had a dream after I finally slept from Mambo night.

A dream about him. And I just woke up thrashing in bed, with such a hurtful heartache that I felt like tearing out my heart.

I felt like I was crying, but there was no tears. Shortly after, I fell back to slumber.

And now, I was looking at the pictures of somebody who from certain poses, looked uncannily like him in the pictures. This acquaintance looks so different at first, until I came across some pictures that just suddenly brought a wave of memories to strike me full in the face. I could feel tears welling up. But no, I did not cry.

It seemed the emotions were suppressed, which could also mean the deepest of my emotions were still there, waiting to... explode anytime.

I looked at this guy's pictures and found a few more that bore resemblance to him, and I wondered what was it about this guy that reminded me of him so much. Looking longer, while controlling myself, I realized, it was the eyes. Both of them had some slight same facial features, with the eyes bearing the most uncanny resemblance that made this guy look very much like him in some poses.

And to think Zoukout is nearing. Oh goodness...

The Saturday

  • Nov. 23rd, 2009 at 6:12 PM

I went over to Garry's house around 2pm on Saturday, and for the 1st time, had a dip in his outdoor jacuzzi pool with him.

We were in the pool for about 1 hour or so before going out with him to photocopy some musical score sheets for his caroling practice later on. After that, because I had a sudden craving for pratas, we walked over to Ala-Min for a very late lunch. I ordered Cod Fish and 2 x Egg Onion pratas, along with Milo Dinosaur to go! What a nice filling lunch, yum yum!

And finally, when back at his place, we proceeded to dye my hair. I had bought 2 dye colors from Watson's the day before, one a bright blonde bleach color and another honey orange.

By right, to get the honey orange color, I was supposed to bleach my hair 1st as it was pure black and the desired bright color would not come out unless the hair already had a light color base. But we were worried that 2 colors should not be done back to back in case my hair would be spoiled, so we just proceeded straight to using the honey orange dye.

I was quite hesistant at first as I was not sure if I could carry that color well. I know I that I can carry red color well, as I have done that a long time ago in a salon and I loved it, but it seemed Watson's does not sell some of the more extravagant colors.

In any case, Garry suggested leaving it longer than usual to get a brighter color and after I washed it off in 45 minutes, the result was actually rather disappointing.

I did not manage to get a bright color but more of a dark rosy brown color instead. And if I am in the dark, like a club, it will be almost as if I had not dyed my hair at all. :(

I am thinking that I will wait for about 1 week before I decided if I want to use the blonde color with my current hair color as a base - that should get me a brighter color.

Bern and Mariel and 2 others eventually arrived for caroling practice and to my surprise, I actually found myself joining in to try singing, ha. As the night wore on, Garry and I drank quite some wine to get into a sort of a party mood first before heading down to Taboo to get stamps (he got himself a guestlist) and then we headed down to Backstage for one of Garry's SMC (Singapore Men's Choir) guys' birthday celebration.

After almost an hour plus there, a group of us were finally leaving for Taboo, or so I thought. Some of them wanted to go in Tantric to have more drinks first and I reluctantly followed, but once in there, boredom was the ultimate feeling on my menu. Thankfully, Garry decided a few of us could just go into Taboo first. It was already 2am by then. -_-

To be honest, there was nothing much in Taboo that really caught my interest. No guys of my liking and music was... well, danceable at the least. I was just there for the company and for the fact that I had not hung out with people in the gay clubbing scene for a long time. Well, on a Saturday night at least.

Some of the other guys from the SMC group eventually came into Taboo to join us at about 3am. And at about 4am, we left for supper.

Garry had earlier on, at his house, suggested that we go to the Zoo on Sunday at 9am with a bunch of other gay guys who organized the outing. But as we were going for supper, he said the plan was cancelled as he was too tired. I was not that keen for the idea at first anyway, (also partly because of a distant memory with somebody in the Zoo...) but when he said he was too tired to wake up in time yet he was the one so enthusiastic about it at first, I kept taunting him and said we should just proceed with the plan to go, ha.

In any case, it was back home after supper. Not exactly a very exciting Saturday but somewhat of a fruitful one at least, better than stoning at home, which was what I did on Sunday after waking up at 3pm.

Kes~

Mambo 18 Nov 09

  • Nov. 19th, 2009 at 7:15 AM

Since I am apparently not sleeping anytime soon, (the time is now 6.40am after Mambo) I figure I may as well blog.

But before posting... WHY THE F*CK is my Club Stomp profile still listed as the newest dude on their front page??? My profile was created since so long ago and now I am being listed as their newest member for what, 2 months??? (Claudio alerted me to that long time ago)

Oh well, whatever.

While having dinner, I was telling Catherine and Jasmine how my desktop PC was infected with virus after downloading a game client. With Zhikai's help, we discovered it disabled every single external devices except for the PS2 ports, and luckily Ben's brother still had the old school PS2 keyboard that I borrowed, else we would not have made that discovery either.

Spent Monday and Tuesday recovering my PC and lost track of time that when I woke up on Wednesday I had forgotten it was Wednesday until Cat smsed me for our usual dinner meetup. The 3 of us drank Erdinger at Winebar while waiting for others to arrive.

It was Marcus' turn to clear a debt (settled by alcohol since it is now decided that we are all actually alcoholics) and so he bought me XTT that we both drank and 16 shots of a drink called Illusion for everybody.

The dancefloor was rather empty and I had some fun going up to the gay platform to dance alone hearing the music was not too bad and to my liking. Been a long time since I started the night as the 1st person to be up alone dancing on the gay platform, until the song that I did not really fancy dancing to.

I was rather disappointed, noticing that it seemed somebody I had acquainted with some time ago was there, but did not bother to say hi. It had been some time since I saw him and I was not really 100% sure it was him but I am PRETTY sure it was, ha. Oh well, these things happen, since I do that to some people too, though it usually will be because I had forgotten the person's name and or that I am not sure if I really know the person or not. In any case, I am pretty sure it was somebody I recognized.

Somebody was saying, to dance together when Hush Hush played, and even though I danced to it with my usual dancing partner Catherine, I did signal for him to come up. It was not as if he and I had never had 3some dancing before (I think) or at least that I had done before, but he did not come up. The reason was I did not pull him up. -_-

But he said it was ok, there would be more songs we could grind to, and so I left it that. When a rare song (nowadays at least) Mercy played, which used to be OUR song that we danced to, he was nowhere to be found. Hmm...

Anyway, the usual group of alcoholics went ahead to Winebar but I stayed behind this time instead, especially after hopping on to the center platform and dancing to Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night at Gerald's usual spot. (he was away for reservist)

It was a good spot for me as I was telling somebody earlier on that there were a lot of cuties (my type at least) and jap style ah beng looking guys and I had a great view from Gerald's spot, heh. There was even this hottie who clapped my hand from the dancefloor during one of the songs that required hand clapping actions. I was oggling at him ever since then, ha!

The 3 boys eventually came back from their drinking but Ben suddenly dashed off and was later found in Phuture, seemingly bored from the predictable spinning by Byden. We stayed there for awhile and oh boy, was I quite thrilled to be there!

No wonder Zouk had all the good looking waiters and bartenders working in Phuture nowadays, Phuture was full of all the cuties and hotties! (I love gorgeous guys with tattoos, heh) And it was a sight watching them dancing, grinding and shuffling.

Well, if it wasn't for the fact that Phuture is always so jam-packed crowded (for such a small space) I would probably have liked to be in there instead, considering I do love Hip Hop and R&B and of course, the guys in there. :)

We were switching from Zouk to Phuture a few times (seemed they were that bored) until we finally settled down in Phuture till it ended and Ben sent all of us back.

Anyway, good luck to everybody having exams now. Study hard and party even harder after your exams end! :)

Love,
Kes~

Mambo 11 Nov 09 & Kelvin's birthday

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 7:13 AM

Decided to post everything together, so waited for Kel's birdday to be over before deciding to blog.

Zouk won the best Nightspot of the Year award (again) this year and was giving free entry to everybody to all 3 locations. Before Mambo, the Esplanade Mambo performers (except for Ben who could not make it) and myself met up with 2 ladies from an independent production company - they wanted to do a documentary about Mambo Jambo and the performance that night caught their interests. It seemed to be a small scale project at first but it has started to turn out to be something quite mind blowing.

Looks like Mambo Jambo will actually be recognized as a true genre of dance finally.

Jay was flying off to Hong Kong for work on Thursday, so the others stayed outside at Winebar to drink with him while I went in to find Xiuping who was in Zouk for Jason's birthday.

Byden was away again and DJ Small took over his place for the night. I must say that he really made a splendid effort and had improved a whole lot since his last spinning (I did sms Tony Tay to guide him along, haha!)

After quite a few drinking of Long Island Tea, (goodness I hate that drink!) Heinkein beer, Apple shooters, Sour Plum shots, Vodka Cranberry, all within about 1 hour or so, I started getting high when I finally hit the dancefloor. In fact, my memory was quite fuzzy for even then.

And I drank a lot more as we proceeded to Winebar, especially when Xiuping and Juvena also joined us. After a lot of different drinks later, I could not take it anymore and had to go and puke, but to my dismay, my puking spot had people there again. It was getting really annoying, maybe I should start marking that as my territory for puking, haha!

So I puked into the bushes instead, and had not realized Juvena and Xiuping were there with me until I finished my business.

By the time I went back into Zouk, I was probably as high as its ceiling. Somehow, I managed to dance it off, but whatever happened in between then till I left Zouk for Shell, I could not remember much. Though I thought I saw somebody I had wanted to see, too bad I didn't get to see him dance, (or even dance with him, heh) such a rare guest!

Shared cab back home with Zhikai, recuperated and rested on Thursday and went for Kel's birthday on Friday.

A room at a service apartment in Clarke Quay (it was a really nice place) had been booked and the place was decorated and food & drinks prepared before Kel's arrival at 7.30pm. A lot of crazy things happened in the apartment which included Jia leading a group of us to dance to Single Lady and a bollywood song (she was really good at bollywood dancing) while Simon took video of all of us crazy people and we had a great time viewing the video clips and laughing ourselves silly at what we were doing.

Soon after, we proceeded to Attica and because of either Garry or Bern knowing the boss, (or some big shot anyway) we all had free entry into the club. Not only that, he actually gave a complimentary bottle of Vodka (don't know what Vodka it was, but it tasted like medicine -_-)to Kel as a birthday present and the group of us were just there being ourselves - dancing and partying away like a bunch of crazy people let loose from somewhere.

When Regina had to leave early, Maria and I decided to just go off together.

And now, I am having insomnia again. -_-"

Funny how I could manage to sleep after Mambo already (being intoxicated had nothing to help with it since I used to be not able to sleep at all even when I drank so much more and was much higher and more exhausted) but now could not sleep after a weekend clubbing session.

Oh well, shall just go and get some food soon and maybe I will be able to sleep after a nice breakfast.

Love,
Kes~

Mambo 04 Nov 09

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 10:10 PM

Wow, have been busy with my online game Tribalwars since whole of Thursday, especially now that my tribe is at war with another tribe 3 times larger than us.

Amazing...

In any case, few of us - me, Sarah, SQ, Ryan, Peter, Chris, Nicole, Aaron, celebrated Kiat's birthday over dinner at Marche at Vivocity before some of us heading down to Zouk.

Some of them were collecting their renewed Privilege cards but to Gerard's surprise, his seemed to be deactivated, until much later when he checked he realized he has been upgraded to Zouk's membership, all thanks to me. :P

We were started drinking at Members' Bar (no more cute bartender! *pouts*) and I even bought Kiat one Yager Bomb. (forgot how to spell it again, shucks) He cannot really hold his liquor well and promptly got drunk eventually and even puked on to the dancefloor. The whole area stinked of his puke for a good long time even after it was cleaned up. -_-

The music was not too bad and I enjoyed it so much that I did not even follow to go to Winebar yet when the usual gang went. I just had to stay back and dance.

And when I finally went to join them, it was drinking, drinking and more drinking - Honey Bunny, Zombie, XTT and I forgot what else. I did go to the back river to puke though, my stomach was too bloated.

An incident happened back inside Zouk when I went in.

As I danced and shuffled to one song (I think it was Spin Me Round) a rather big sized gal suddenly came up to me and asked if I am gay because her friend wanted to know me. I had a quick look around and did not seem to find any guy who caught my interest (but then again, as said, it was a quick look) and so I replied that I am gay, but I was not into knowing anybody at that moment.

And she went "Oh really, but my friend is young and fresh." -_-"

Somehow, even that did not really appeal to me much.

I carried on dancing while she and her friends went off elsewhere after I seemed disinterested. I tried seeing how her friend might look like, but I could not really catch a good look.

In any case, they returned to near the area (the gay platform steps) after awhile and eventually went off for good. But they had to purposely go from behind my back and the guy grabbed a side of my buttocks as they walked past. -_-"

I don't really feel very honored or complimented by that...

Anyway... the night ended and Ben drove me home.

Thursday was spent playing my game.

And even now I am so busy in it, it is a game I will not recommend anybody to it unless you have lots of free time on hand as it does take up lots of your time, especially when you start getting addicted and committed to it, like me.

And I have just posted my very 1st war declaration since I played this game in a different world 2 years ago! It is going to get so busy in-game now, haha!

Love,
Kes~

Halloween was supposed to be spent at the Night Safari with Marcus, Gerard, Nicole, Jasmine, Darren and another gal friend of Darren, I forgot what is her name.

I took a cab there while the rest went from Nicole's house. I was quite shocked on boarding the cab because the driver was asking if I knew how to give directions to the Zoo when I asked to go there. In the end, he used a GPS system instead. -_-

By the time I reached there, it was about 8.30pm and it was after a very heavy downpour from earlier. The crowd there was overwhelming as the Night Safari had a yearly Halloween scare theme. We decided that there was no way we could get into the Night Safari in time for anything much since it closed at 12am as per usual.

It was quite disappointing but what followed more or less made up for it. Somebody suggested going to a cemetry, and we eventually decided to go to Lim Chu Kang cemetry.

We drove all the way uphill and stopped at the Catholic burial ground and got out of the cars to take a look around. It was still slightly drizzling and as we stood around, not only were we cold, we were starting to get bored too. Until Marcus came out with another one of his "brilliant" idea - to look for a tomb with the surname Chen.

The more adventurous few of us went ahead with that idea, and while I was going along with it, I was more curious about something. Seeing a few of the tombs having the colorful mini windmills on the ground, I was wondering why one of them was spinning while the rest further in were not, but I just brushed it off as since the one spinning was at the tomb which was located by the side, it managed to catch the wind while the rest inside the burial ground probably had the other tombs blocking and no wind was passing through.

Nicole got a fright and screamed and ran back out on to the road when she was by the side of the spinning windmill though, as she had not noticed it before.

And followed was an uncanny encounter by Marcus.

Since he was the one who came up with the idea, he decided to follow it too but had a fright from the very 1st tombstone he was reading from - he saw his own name.

And he came back out with his face white and asked for us to take a look to see if he had seen wrongly. I went in and read from the tombstone, and true enough, it was written there Marcus, but it belonged to a Marcus Sim. And that plot of area were actually the children's burial ground, so there was no cause for alarm after all, heh. Although I sure would be freaked out too if the first tomebstone I were to read from had my name on it.

After some time of searching and realizing that we were probably not going to be able to find a surname Chen in a Catholic burial ground, plus the fact that some of us were getting colder from the drizzle, we decided to head back to the cars and go to Nicole's house to decide our next plan.

On nearing the car, my head instinctively turned to look at the tomb with the spinning windmill and just as instinctively, I exclaimed loudly that the windmill had stopped moving completely.

The instant I said that, it started turning very fast, and there was no breeze about. Jasmine got freaked out and pestered all of us to just get out of the place. Funny thing was, I was not scared, rather fascinated by what could be a real supernatural encounter in fact. But suddenly everybody just want to get into the cars and go to Nicole's house, so there was really no choice to investigate.

When we reached Nicole's house, Ben joined us and after some discussion, we decided to head off to yet another cemetry - Bukit Brown. It was quite a long dark stretch of road with tombstones all beside the road, but it still was not as dark enough as when I had went to Rifle Range Road for an exploration trip before.

There was really nothing much but the road was really bumpy and there was a point where there was a very deep ravine by the sides of the road which had turned very narrow by then. It was quite a dangerous drive.

The night eventually ended with supper at Serangoon Gardens and everybody was feeling tired after supper, so we all headed back home to prepare for the next big event, Gerald's wedding at Orchard Hotel.

There were a lot of Mambo regulars (and ex-regulars) at the wedding and plus the Zouk staff who turned up, it was almost like a Zouk reunion night, haha!

I made a slight fuss at where I was originally sitting though, because I had not expected somebody whom I detest to be invited and I was put to sit at the same table, where Sofian was seated too. But SQ and Kiat helped to correct that by switching me to the other table instead, and thankfully, I did not have to even face his back from where I was seating, else my appetite would most probably have been affected.

And Sofian had to say something which jolted the memory of something nasty (more to embarrassing actually) that happened between Marcus and me on the last Wednesday's Mambo. I had actually forgotten about it completely, especially since I was very high as well, but on Sofian's prompt, I remembered and worse still, Ben and Gerard were witnesses to what happened and they too could not remember until Sofian asked, and Ben started whispering to Jasmine the incident, and she whispered to Chock and I don't know who else the incident was whispered to but each person who was related it was not supposed to tell another.

What a bullshit crap load of keeping a secret huh?

With Sofian around, information passed through faster than wildfire. Geez.

The food was not too bad, I had enjoyed every bit of it, and I drank quite a bit of red wine too. It at least tasted much better than Zouk's red wine and it was rather sweet too.

I couldn't seem to stop drinking, and along with all the toasting that was going on, Catherine said I ended up drinking 10 glasses in the least. That explained the tipsiness I felt later on, and I woke up today with a hangover. -_-"

Gerald himself seemed to be getting quite high and so were the regulars who were his 'brothers' last night. A lot of faces were turning red, haha!

Well, let's hope the newly wedded couple a blissful and joyous marriage.

Love,
Kes~

Mambo 28 Oct 09

  • Oct. 30th, 2009 at 12:41 PM

Long entry.

The Mambo Jambo dance performance at Esplanade for the Singapore Dance Festival was a success! The gang were there to prepare and do a final rehearsal since 4pm and I was there to help out as well.

By the time 8pm struck, there did not seem to have much crowd yet and everybody was just mingling around. I had the chance to get Chock the aspiring DJ to talk to DJ Byden (he was there to spin some songs during the free and easy periods) and soon they were hitting off like good pals, ha. Talking about DJing I suppose.

But people started pouring in soon and the event eventually started. Chock even had a whole fan club (his friends from NUS) coming down to support him with his name spelled out on cardboards!

1st song saw some of them quite nervous and tense, but it went well nevertheless, and as the night carried on, the turnout got better and people, including some of Mambo regulars (both new and old) were even dancing along and dancing to the songs during the free and easy period. Everybody was rather spontaneous! And during the teaching segments, everybody, young, old, regulars, newbies, wannabes, was actually following and learning!

Seeing the response and the crowd who turned up, who said it would have been a joke or a laughing matter in the Arts scene? I certainly believe in all my friends, else I would not have turned up every weekend to help with their practices. And to which they decided to thank me properly and had me going up the stage after their finale to take a bow along with them, introducing me as their 'team manager', haha!

And who said people cannot come together for Mambo as a common interest? Why, I just found a common interest in a certain somebody whom we had absolutely none at all before seeing each other at the event after a long time! Mambo dancing can be an amazing thing actually, especially considering how it has evolved through the years and how people, both old and young, can be fascinated by it. (he told me he is!)

After the event, some of us waited behind while the performers (Jay, Jerald, Agnes, Alfred, Marcus, Ben, Gerard, Catherine, Chock) went to bath, then we proceeded down to Zouk for Mambo as usual.

But on reaching, I realized that after dancing to some nice songs at Esplanade during the free and easy period, I did not seem to have any more mood to party. That plus the fact that I was tired as well. The same feeling was echoed in thoughts by a few of us, and even Hush Hush was danced to half heartedly.

We decided to proceed to Winebar to drink and so many different drinks were ordered!

I had a pint of Erdinger with Catherine, she ordered a Honey Bunny for me and Eleana because Eleana wanted to try it with me. Jasmine (or was it Marcus?) ordered white wine, Marcus ordered Sour Plum shots. Gerard order Zombie (which is quite a nice sweet drink actually) and somebody ordered Graveyard which I drank half of it, but I actually made my way to the back river to puke before taking that. Seeing a couple making out at my usual puke spot, I puked into the bushes instead, ha. The rest of them had some other drinks to themselves.

Due to the mixing of the drinks, plus Honey Bunny, I got quite high eventually.

I think Jasmine got drunk too, and so did Marcus and Catherine. I eventually got too high to really remember much but we decided to send Marcus back as he was collapsing already.

And after that, as Ben was driving out of NUS, a black cat suddenly ran across and froze in front of his car and I shouted loudly "Hey, cat!" and that woke up a dozing Russell at the backseat and he was wondering how come Catherine was suddenly around the area, haha!

On reaching home, I collapsed on to bed immediately after I bathed and I woke up on Thu with a slight hangover because of all the different mix of drinks. It got better eventually and I met up with Catherine, Jay and Jerald for an appreciation buffet dinner by Esplanade for their performers and helpers. It seemed Esplanade is planning to put together the Mambo Jambo theme yearly from now on for their Singapore Dance Festival. Everybody was quite pleased with the turnout and response from the crowd on that night. I was very happy for the gang who put in so much efforts and time for their performance too.

Unlike what everybody from outside thought, it really was not easy during the rehearsals. Especially when we discovered that while in Zouk it seemed everybody was dancing the same movements, everybody was actually doing different things and arguing why his/her movements were the best and most suitable! Haha!

After dinner, we had a drink at MacDonald's outside at Marina Square and chatted till just past midnight before finally heading back home.

All in all, it had been a great Wed despite not having dance much in Zouk and getting high.

Hmm... which also reminded me, I am disgustingly disappointed at Zouk for the kind of 'interests' they show in their own trademark that was being promoted. Nobody from Zouk even turned up to support the event which turned out to be a great success with absolute fantastic response from the crowd. Seems not only the "Arts scene thought it was a joke".

Well, it was a "joke" which people and organisers involved in thoroughly enjoyed and had fun coming together for. :)

Cheers to Mambo Jambo and a big thanks to all who went down to support!

Kes~

A few of the regulars had decided not to go last night, and Catherine and I reached Zouk rather early and to it seemed there was no crowd at all. Out of boredom, we went to Winebar to drink beer, a pint of Erdinger each.

The way she drinks beer is quite scary to me. As I finished rather fast to catch up, I was hoping I would not get too badly high later, since beer has always been my weakness.

To our horror when we stepped out of Winebar at about 10.30pm, the outside area of Zouk was still extremely empty and we were left to wonder if there was a Facebook event to boycott Mambo that night, ha.

After chatting with the 2 doorbitches for awhile to kill time, the both of us proceeded to Members and even there, we were doomed to boredom as no other familiar faces were in sight. (pity Adrian has left)

Luckily, some of the others soon turned up, including Zhikai, Sarah, Kevin & Aaron and his friends.

Sarah bought Flaming Lambo during one for one to drink with me as she said it had been a long time since we drank that together. Jerald turned up almost immediately and decided to buy Catherine and I Graveyards as he had said before he would, because we both said Graveyard tasted better than Hot & Sticky and we would drink that anytime.

The deal was 2 Graveyards each actually, but seeing as I already had a Flaming Lambo, he decided to go easy on me. Which was probably much appreciated since I had a pint of Erdinger earlier on as well. I was secretly hoping the Graveyard would not get me drunk. I was starting to feel the kick of the alcohol and Jerald was slightly amused and said he would probably see me down half an hour later.

After that, we soon proceeded to the dancefloor and I did start to get moderately high. But after dancing for a while, I seemed to have recovered easily. I did not even feel like I needed to puke. (though while drinking the Graveyard immediately after the Flaming Lambo, I did have the urge to puke due to the after taste of mix drinking both alcohol)

So I went up to Jerald and told him I managed to survive! Not bad!

But I forgotten how it happened that I ended up in Winebar again with Catherine buying me Honey Bunny. Goodness that was really sweet! I could feel the sugar rush almost immediately and in fact, when we went back into Zouk, I was in hyper mode for a short while, sheesh!

Oh, and the hunk twins were there in Zouk! Dancing with 1 made my night, dancing with both was like a dream. Having both of them plant kisses on my cheeks were heavenly! LOL!

Ryan was watching and having a smirk on his face from the side how I was so happily dancing with the twins, haha! He kept insisting at Shell later on after Mambo that the twins are not the usual type of guys I will go for, (too hunky and muscled for me, he said, while I am usually seen with guys small sized slim or leanfit kind) but I said that as long as they are not fat and are proportionately built, they can be my type. Plus the fact that they are gorgeous guys. :P

Anyway, it was just dancing. :)

And yes! I survived a pint of Erdinger, a Flaming Lambo, a Graveyard and a Honey Bunny without a scratch! I did not even puke at all! I was just moderately high enough to enjoy myself even though the music was not as good as last week.

Hmm... not really a good sign actually. Oh well... at least I enjoyed myself last night!

Mambo 14 Oct 09

Let's see... both bad and good things, which to start 1st. I know, the good ones! Since I was extremely happy the whole night and my mood sure lifted up a whole lot after my last blog post. Hey I've even start going online on msn again. :)

1st, I managed to finally get to know somebody I have been trying to know in quite a long while. He's a friend of friends and it was by some weird twisted coincidence that I finally got to talk to him last night after seeing him around for quite a lot of times, both inside and outside of Zouk. (I mean daytime, not outside of Zouk after or before Mambo, ha)

That sure made the rest of my night.

2nd to follow was... IT WAS A MOST AWESOME MAMBO! (I know there will be much disagreement to this but hey, its my blog, my opinion right? Besides, I was not the only one who loved last night, heh. One man's banana is another's sausage. Hmm... where did that come from?)

Byden was back earlier than expected, but even before he took over, Tony Tay had a great start to it! Then as the night went on and I sweated like I just came out of a sauna before 1am, and the music carried on to be fantastic, I had a glance at the DJ console while dancing with Catherine and I saw to my pleasant surprise Byden spinning and I exclaimed to her that he is back!

Indeed it was a great workout last night and I was dancing so much and so vibrantly that I had multiple cramps (no, I was not having a menstrual cycle or something) on both my legs! When I got Jerald to pull me up the gay platform as Together In Electric Dreams played, the moment I got both my feet up one of them cramped at the calf! And eventually even the thigh was starting to pull painfully, and then even the other leg was slowly cramping as well! Imagine dancing and stretching my legs at the same time to ease the pain! For the 1st time ever in my life, I even experienced a slight ankle cramp later on!

Ok, I can go on and on about how great last night's Mambo was, for a damn long time in fact, possibly in years. A few retro diehards and some others will disagree, but I definitely do know of friends who will take my side as well, so I don't care about those who disagreed, haha! What matters most is that I thoroughly enjoyed myself last night despite the commotion that happened. And to think I almost did not want to go.

I did not even drink much, ha.

Hmm... should I mention the bad thing? I guess I shall since there must be a balance, ha.

For once, I scolded my favorite boy. Very harshly, direct and not giving any face this time in fact.

Before most of us went in Zouk, we saw a big group of Ang Mohs talking to Sofian, one of them trying to argue for free entry for everybody. Sofian's reaction was VERY hilarious when we were observing him listening to the lead guy making his point.

Anyway, they did go into Zouk eventually, not sure if they paid, I presume they did.

I was told later on that he was actually quite high when it happened. This 2 Ang Mohs from the big group suddenly ruggedly made their way up onto the top center platform and I was not sure if they had bumped into anybody but he was with me at the dancefloor when we witnessed that. Soon, some Indian gals came to join in too, and a few other gals as well, of whom 2 of them said they remembered me from long time back, the guy always in red and said I used to teach them how to dance to Mambo. (I did? -_-")

And all of a sudden, he rushed up to the same center platform and had a danceoff with those 2 Ang Mohs, resulting in a confrontation. I was rather annoyed at this point, especially when all my lesson and talks of being gracious and not finding trouble seemed to have gone down the drain. So after the strangers left the platform, I went up and scolded him fiercely.

He explained that the Ang Mohs were the ones who bumped into him 1st but I refused to listen to his explanation and carried on scolding him, to which he started getting really upset and shouted his arguments to me and I hushed him up, turned my back on him and stepped down the platform and immediately saw him threw a tantrum and stomped off, with the other 2 in hot pursuit of course.

I decided to just stay put and not waste the night and my good mood which just had a 360 degrees turn from since Sunday.

Later on, a very big sized Indian guy and gal came near and I could see the Indian gal pointing to the center platform and me and while talking to him. It put me on quite an alert when he came up to talk to me and said that they were actually having a henpeck party night for his wife and she was so rudely knocked into and he wanted to confront the one (my favorite boy) who knocked into her to demand why she could not have a night to enjoy herself. Seemed they were with the Ang Mohs, that would be a really huge bunch!

He did add that his wife explained I later on scolded the one who knocked into her and he was thanking me for that so at least he did not have to demand an apology. I apologized on his behalf and said he was drunk and gave the Indian guy a pat on his hand to assure him it was all a misunderstanding, and that was when I felt his bicep was much bigger than my waist!

Luckily, he seemed to be a nice guy though, and accepted my explanation. Gee, I did not know what I would have done if he had demanded for further explanation, especially being together with all the other Ang Mohs! Well, at least their party night was not that spoiled, hopefully.

The boy never came back in after, apparently extremely mad at me. I decided not to be bothered, since I probably just saved his ass, kind of a good thing for him to stomp off I guess. Not that I would not have helped if a fight really ensued. Though it would be one we could not win, even if the whole center platform people were to join in.

When I was shown the sms about him disappearing and could not be found, I did rush out, only to find out that they decided to go back home. So I went back in and... surprised! I could actually still carry on the momentum of my dancing as I had before I went out of Zouk! It will take really fantastic music and great songs (to me) for me to have been able to do that and that was really very rare, had not happened in a year or 2! Okok, I am going on about how great last night was again, ha!

Oh, funny thing last night was I seemed to be the unlucky star of a few gals. 1st was when I was running along the Zouk entrance corridor before Mambo really started, 2 gals were rushing out of Phuture entrance into the corridor and my whole body weight literally crashed into one of them and she went flying! Luckily I was able to somehow grab hold of her while she was flying so I was pulling her back a bit. It was quite embarrassing though. (for her)

Next was when I was stepping out of Velvet's entrance, a gal walking near the railing beside the hotdog stand suddenly just seemed to collapse and fall. -_-"

3rd was when I was going to find a few of them behind Zouk, I bumped yet into another gal when she tripped and fell somehow directly in front of me (-_-") and I sent her sprawling on to the floor. Oh bother...

All of them were quite hilarious sights to behold actually, especially the 1st as many people could see her lifted off the ground and flying away after I crashed into her, hahahaha! Oops! :P

What a night! :)

Belated post on Sat's birthday party

  • Oct. 12th, 2009 at 6:02 AM

I was confronted by not 1 but 2 friends on why I did not post about this party. I was asked if I could post about the Mambo birthday party which I was not truly happy why couldn't I post about the Saturday birthday party.

I was accused of not appreciating my friends' efforts in organizing the party for me just because I did not post about it.

Since there is so much demand about my blog posts, here it shall be.

Yes, I did not truly enjoy Sat's party either. Does this mean I did not appreciate my friends' efforts in organizing one for me? Does this mean that I appreciate those who spent time and efforts to organize it any lesser than I would be appreciating say... a bunch of friends I club with regularly?

Not enjoying the party and not wanting to blog about it because it is already over and I am just looking forward instead of complaining and whining about it is so completely different from not appreciating the people who organized it.

But since I have been so accused, since the truth must so be known and dug, here's the ugly truth then.

Ever since I found out that the surprise party seemed to have the element of which I specially said I did not want - a hotel room - I was already disappointed. But since I had asked for the party to be arranged and for it to be out of my hands altogether, I thought that maybe it should just stay that way and I would enjoy it afterall.

Unfortunately, it was not so and I was doomed for further disappointment when I discovered during the party itself that the second element of what I did not want was in - clubbing.

As much as I appreciate the efforts put in to surprise me, to make it something special, I am sorry to say that because it was completely something I already said I did not want, how would I have enjoyed it? But still, I put in the effort to at least appreciate the efforts and not show my disappointment. I decided that it shall just be something that I basked in without trying to care whether I like it or not and then after that, forget about it.

But no, the truth must be dug and just because I did not blog about it, I had to be confronted with almost a sense of hostility. (that I did not appreciate my friends' efforts at all, or my friends who care)

And worse, they had to compare it with the Mambo birthday party that I blogged about even though I did not enjoy myself.

If I had wanted a hotel room, I would have just said so and probably find one location myself and booked it. If I had wanted clubbing, I would have just said I want it done the same as previous year and just head down to Play. If I had wanted to get drunk, I would have just opened 3 bottles of alcohol as I did last year.

I did not specify a budget just to watch my friends try and get me drunk, bring me to an alien club which made everything worse. (noticed when it was time to go, I was the 1st to rush out of the club?)

And worse, I was told if I had to blog about it, I should not blog about a certain thing. SO WHY THE FUCK SHOULD I EVEN BLOG ABOUT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?????

And then there was the issue of me having done something disapproving that night that I VERY MUCH WANTED TO FORGET ABOUT AND MOVE ON BUT NOW ON BLOGGING I REMEMBERED.

And if I seem selfish here to have expectations, I give a famous expression always used by one of the very two who confronted me: it is my birthday, my party, it should have been all about me. But no, the other said the reason for the room and the clubbing (which once again I stressed, I had said so many times I did not want either at all) was for the convenience of everybody. So it was not to be about me afterall. So what should I do or feel? Am I supposed to be selfish or not? I cannot have expectations (which were very simple NO HOTEL ROOM, NO CLUBBING) for my own party? So am I now going to get scolded that since I have such HIGH EXPECTATIONS I should have just organised it myself?

And if I were a selfish prick who did not care about close friends, I would not have brought the expensive bottles of Grey Goose Vodka and Inniskillin Ice Wine to one's birthday party to share with everybody instead of keeping for my own birthday which was so close. If I truly wanted to whine and complain about not enjoying myself (which now I seem to be doing, but ONLY because I was confronted why I did not blog about it) and not move on, I would not have thought to offer my pair of Prada shoes which was so appreciated by the other for his upcoming birthday. True it is secondhand (or foot) present but it is something very much liked by him and it was my 1st and only expensive branded stuff.

I gave away the best to my friends whom I truly appreciate and now I am being accused of not appreciating them and their efforts and their love just because I did not enjoy myself that night and did not wish to blog about it because I want to move on since it already is over.

If seemingly not being appreciated hurt, how freaking hurt would I be now to be accused so???

Truly did I ask for too much just by saying I did not want a hotel room and clubbing? Well, as also mentioned when confronted by the 1st, I had enjoyed the simple dinner last year at his house with other mutual friends much more than I had enjoyed being forced to get drunk and then forced to club at a place that it seemed I was not the only one who did not enjoy myself in there.

And also, if a small confirmation could have been gotten earlier, (since I did ask for it to be arranged rather early, even before his own birthday) I could have gone along with my own plan and put the budget to better use and truly enjoy myself and perhaps everybody else would too. The number of people would have been just right for me to arrange for something I had always wanted since eventually the person whose attendance I needed to confirm was not there at this party anyway.

There, here's the blog that is so much in demand. If it offended, I do not care anymore. I was not the one who blindly confront and assume things just because I did not blog about it.

And by the way, being my blog means I blog what I want, and when I want.

Lastly, I think I shall hermit myself for awhile. I think I am too deeply hurt, too infuriated this time. Flame or explain or argue away, I shall not be bothered.

Got lazy to post for days but it was not as if there was anything spectacular at Mambo that night anyway, with the exception of Nicole turning up after a long while of absence, which I already guessed it could be her judging from the way Jasmine was talking to her on the phone during dinner at Great World City but refusing to tell us who it was.

Adrian had resigned and now working in another bar at Sentosa (I forgot the name) and asked us to go and support. One of these days perhaps. That means no more cute bartender at Members' Bar, since I have not seen Wesley in a long while too. :(

Surprisingly, nobody got drunk (Jasmine got high though, I think) and I honestly do not know whether was it because I was not even high so I did not enjoy the night or was it that I really completely did not like how DJ Small was spinning. Byden is in Europe for 2 weeks and DJ Small will be replacing him for these 2 weeks.

I was so absolutely bored that my mood was rather foul that night. With the exception of some songs that I really like playing, the rest of the night was quite horrible for me, though when Tony Tay took over for awhile it got a bit better.

Of course a few other things did help to make the night a little better. Among them was seeing somebody and I was secretly watching him dance throughout the night he was around.(maybe it wasn't secret enough since I noticed his friends teasing him about me)

Marcus felt DJ Small was not bad for a 1st timer spinning in Mambo, that will mean my expectation must be really sky high.

After a most horrendous Mambo, (for me at least) Marcus, Ben, Gerard and I went to Clementi for supper (breakfast?) before heading back home.

Actually, it wasn't really just horrendous for me alone. I just remembered Gerald was seemingly quite disappointed too and if I wasn't wrong, he headed to Phuture with Zhikai for awhile, I think. Well, he did get off his usual spot on the center platform and did not went back up ever since.

Let's see how it goes next week. *shrugs*

Well, it seems I have let the alcohol and the small little unhappy things all added up last night to become a big unhappy thing for me so much so that it sort of ruined my night.

But after speaking to Zhikai to recollect some memories, and after sulking the whole day, I finally managed to get over it.

And there was something worth blogging about now that I am slowly remembering slightly more of the night, so here's an added on post of a particular incident that Zhikai was relating to me, since now is my actual birthday and I am more or less done with sulking.

Byden played the Kamasutra song as I requested and it seemed of everybody who goes on platform, I am usually the only one who will dance to it when played. Last night was no different. When the song played, I did remembering dashing up to the center platform to want to dance to it, and since it seemed I was the only one who would dance to that song, everybody made way for me and got down the platform, so I ended up being the only one dancing on the center platform, sheesh!

And I was rather intoxicated!

I remembered the part when dancing to it, all the regulars around the platform cheered, and I kept telling myself I cannot embarrass myself and fall off, haha! I did not, wheew! The thing I could not immediately remember until just now when chatting with Zhikai was that, in the middle of the cheering, somebody started singing me the birthday song and soon everybody around the platform sang it too!

Zhikai said it was so audible that he could hear it loud and clear even standing below the speaker platform, and it was the singing that eventually drew everybody's attention on the dancefloor to me dancing all alone up there! OMG! Had I not been high I think I would have freaked out!

But he also said it was a scene very nicely done and I did nothing to embarrass myself, like fell off or stumbled, ha! He did say I was pointing my middle finger at somebody though and I remembered it was because I saw an idiot trying to either take picture or video of me dancing so I pointed my middle finger at him, and with the whole dancefloor looking, it was very obvious. -_-"

I was also told Hush Hush played a second time but I was around, and that last night was simply a night of fantastic music (due to my special requests to the two Djs Byden and Tony Tay the day before) but I just did not seem to be around for some of my favorites. Oh well...

I had an sms chat with Byden and Tony Tay though and told Byden it would be great if he can continue every week to do the same kind of superb mixing. Hopefully he does it, ha! Oh, and Tony Tay said Hush Hush will be put on the regular list, YAY!!!

I really should not have let all the small little unhappiness added up, it made the alcohol took effect easily and just made me even more upset. Oh well, at least now I am glad I managed to recollect back some happy memories and hopefully a lot of more great Mambo nights to look forward to with Hush Hush playing every week, haha!

And oh yes, once again, happy birthday to me. :)

Love,
Kes~

About the ONLY things worth mentioning about last night were:

1. The 30th level junior suite at Grand Corpthorne Hotel that SQ got me as a birthday present, I think it was my best birthday present ever. Thanks a lot. :)

2. The efforts made by a few of my friends who had not been seen for long time to specially turn up, either for the drinking session or for Mambo itself. Appreciate it guys and gals.

3. Tony Tay played Hush Hush on my request, and Byden also spinning lots of great songs I requested. Cheers to them.

That's it. Nothing else I wish to blog about.

Mambo 23 Sep 09

  • Sep. 24th, 2009 at 9:36 PM

It was a killer night, well, not for me at least, I survived without even puking despite playing that deadly game with the 4 of them: Gerard, Marcus, Ben & Catherine.

The 5 of us were in rather early and Zouk was extremely empty and boring. So much so that Marcus suggested going to the coffee shop to drink beer. I seconded that and Catherine did not mind either, but the 2 lazier boys Ben and Gerard refused to budge.

So Marcus suddenly came up with another idea to play an alcohol game. It was rather brain teasing at first as we needed each to think of what to buy but after some discussion with Adrian, the game was improvised to Adrian writing down 5 different drinks and each of us would take turn to draw the lots without knowing exactly what the drinks would be. The one who picked the lot would not have to drink that but buy it for the rest.

After some '0h-ar-bei-ar-som', Ben ended up being the first to pick and me being the last. I was quite grumpy about that at first but it turned out to be my lucky night.

Ben was quite happy that he picked AK47 and did not have to drink that, gleefully mocking the rest of us who had to drink. It was my first try of that drink and it was disgusting, to which the rest of whom had to drink that agreed and thought it would have been their worst drink given the disgust level. They were wrong.

What followed was a drink we had never heard of - Hot & Sticky.

And because Tequila is quite a disgusting alcohol and AK47 had strong presence of it, when we realized Hot & Sticky seemed to contain even more Tequila, it was really horrifying for us, especially me who took a sip of it and almost puked immediately. In the end I braced up for the worst, pinched my nose (it actually really helped, our taste buds are actually connected to our nose) and gulped down that super disgusting drink.

The 3rd that followed, according to Ryan who told me before, was a drink more potent than Super Lambo and Flaming Lambo. He said it was called Extreme and I first told the rest about a new drink Ryan told me about, it actually turned out to be XTT (I think) and on asking Adrian, he said it is definitely more lethal than Super Lambo.

I was quite petrified to have to drink that, but I sucked in my guts and offered to go first. (the faster I drank it, the faster I got over it right?)

It didnt taste as bad as I thought it would, but maybe it was because I was holding my breath while sipping that drink.

My last drink that followed, was unfortunately, Flaming Lambo. -_-"

But I was pretty confident I could still survive it since I think I had survived worse. By then, the alcohol effects were kicking in for all of us and I was starting to feel rather light headed, not to mention we were all starting to giggle and laugh and talk loudly, much to the amusement of all the Members' bar staffs.

And finishing that, it was finally my turn to see what drink I would not have to drink, not that I have any choice anyway. And when I opened up that slip of paper, I literally jumped and screamed in joy.

It was Graveyard.

Ben later (much later) swore that was the drink that killed all of them and the reason why I survived was because I did not have to drink it. Though I beg to differ since I had taken Graveyard with Flaming Lambo and a lot of other shots of drinks in a night of drink fest before too and I sobered up after puking. So since I did not even puke last night but yet still had quite a few other drinks later on after the game, I was sure I could have survived even if I were to drink all five of those deadly drinks.

We soon proceeded to the dancefloor after the game and as the alcohol really started kicking in, my memory got very fuzzy. But what I did remember I started witnessing the other 4 of them starting to get knocked out one by one and I was slowly bringing them out one by one. And in the midst of all these fuzzy memories, I heard Tony Tay played Hush Hush by Pussycat Dolls! OMG! I was esctatic as much earlier on while waiting for Catherine to come out of the washroom in Great World City before heading down to Zouk, I heard the song played in That CD Store and was just wondering if Zouk will ever play that song. It sure made my night for a short single happy moment, since the rest of the night was completely spent on taking care of all 4 of them.

I think I remember Gerard was the first that I carried out, and I seemed to be running all over the place after him when as usual he was super hyperactive first before finally getting knocked out.

Next to follow, if I remember correctly, was Marcus. And this time, I was the only person shoulder carrying him without any help. I felt like a whole mountain was weighed against me as I struggled with his weight while staggering out of Zouk to the roadside opposite.

Ben was the third, followed by Catherine.

And since then, I never got to dance anymore. In fact it seemed I never danced anymore after Hush Hush, which I presumed must have been rather early in the night since it was Tony Tay who was playing it. So that means I almost did not dance the whole night at all.

As the night wore on and Marcus finally finished puking, he sobered up eventually and just as a few of us were wondering what to do with Ben and Catherine who both drove, he claimed confidently that he could send everybody else back. But as he still looked rather dazed and tired, I told him to go and drink much more water and wash up first.

As I waited and it seemed to be getting worse with Ben, Catherine and Gerard, who was finally settling down quietly, I was afraid the 3 of them might start getting too deep into drunken slumber and nobody would have the ability to wake them up if they did. So out of frustration and having no other better options, I went to book a room at Grand Corpthorne Hotel.

As I stood by the entry glass doors, it did not open and I remembered they locked it to only allow it opened by guests with the hotel card keys to prevent clubbers spilling over from Zouk to use their washrooms.

So I nicely asked the bellhop to get the doors opened as I wanted to book a room. He gave me a very sarcastic look and said "You just want to use the toilet right?"

To which I replied I really wanted to book a room, but he actually turned his head away back to his paperwork and ignored me! I took out my wallet and showed proof that I really wanted to book a room and offered for him to take my I/C then even to help me with the booking, but he continued ignoring me! I felt my anger boiling and demanded to know if he was going to continue ignoring me.

He did.

I was so angry, I went straight up to the glass doors, banged on them loudly and when a front desk staff opened the door for me, I demanded to see the duty manager. And I started complaining to her about the bellhop and giving her a piece of my mind about the kind of service they were providing and how they were judging people by the appearances.

That done and the room booked and my anger subsided slightly after taking out on her, I went back to the roadside and was wondering how to bring them up to the room. I decided to go back inside Zouk to rope in some help and asked Jasmine to look after the 3 of them for awhile. Kiat, SQ, Sarah and Jeremy offered to help me.

And when I rushed back outside, Marcus was there and said he heard I had booked a hotel room and that I shouldn't have and that he had said earlier on he was sober enough by then and could've send them back home, to which I got rather annoyed and gave him a look that said "so where did you go for the last 45 minutes then?" but decided to keep my mouth shut before I blew up at him and asked for him to help all of us carry everybody up to the hotel room. I was managing with Gerard and I could not remember who was helping Ben but Catherine was the difficult one.

She was a typical flailing drunkard last night and it took 4 guys, Marcus, SQ, Kiat and Jeremy, to each carry her limb to get her up to the room, which was on the 21st level and had a very nice view by the way, haha.

Marcus later claimed he could not stay and had to bring Gerard along with him back home as his mother was expecting them, which got me annoyed and thinking: you were willing to get dead drunk when your mother was expecting you back? I had a huge question mark on my head and I demanded that he stayed since I had already booked the room anyway and the 3 drunkards probably needed extra help to take care of them, especially when they were to wake up later on.

And later on, SQ went to help drive and park Ben's and Catherine's cars in the hotel carpark while I went to take a shower. And when I came out, to my irritation, Marcus left with Gerard and left me an sms.

As SQ and the rest came back and asked about them, I told them Marcus left with Gerard and that I was pissed enough that I was even thinking not going to Mambo next week. But they told me they had taken off or leave next Thursday just to be able to make it for my Birthday Mambo celebration on Wednesday next week. So I cooled down and decided to take up Kiat's suggestion to vent my frustration on the hotel staffs for their poor service and demanded for a complimentary buffet breakfast for myself since my booking did not come with it. I got the buffet breakfast, haha!

And after SQ, Kiat and Sarah left, I stayed up for awhile to clean up the mess of the puke that Catherine created when she puked in the hotel room twice, once on the carpet, second on the bed itself. Luckily it was on the edge of the bed. I was worried she might suddenly puke in the middle on to a blissfully sleeping Ben, haha!

6.30am came and I went down to help myself to the buffet breakfast. I was so hungry after all the tiring work last night (without dancing, can you imagine that?) and in between being pissed at the hotel staffs and Marcus (he should be lucky I was more pissed at the hotel staffs) that I revenged myself upon breakfast and had 4 servings!

The bacon strips were simply delicious and crunchy! And the fish congee was so satisfying that I had 3 bowls of it and each mouthful I filled almost had me let out a moan. Breakfast was pure orgasm, haha!

And I had so much other food too! I think it was like supper, breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one!

After breakfast, I went back up to the room to take a shut-eye (I could never sleep nor nap under such circumstances). Ben and Catherine eventually woke up and I had some fun disturbing Ben. :P

We checked out at 11am and Ben sent me back home.

The end of an exhausting Mambo night without dancing. -_-"

And next week... is my birthday Mambo celebration... oh dear...

Mambo 16 Sep 09

  • Sep. 19th, 2009 at 1:32 AM

Xiuping made a rare appearance this Mambo, but stayed just till barely 12am. She was there because her bf's James was celebrating his friend's birthday. But she did say she will indefnitely be there for my birthday Mambo celebration. Let's hope she will be more tame with her drinks this time round.

At Members' Bar, the few of us had quite a few rounds of drinks and I had quite a few cheerings of beer with Cyndi and friends at the dancefloor, so I started getting high pretty early because of the beer.

And when Marcus & Gerard arrived later, we went over to Winebar for more drinks of Flaming Lambo and White Wine. I got relatively high that night and memories were rather fuzzy. I think I had gone out to the back river to puke once, I could not really remember.

But funny thing was, Gerard did not drink that much, yet he got drunk, badly.

By the time we were leaving Zouk, he was quite gone, luckily not knocked out concussed. He had to puke several times while Ben was driving though. As always, when he puked, it was as if he was vomitting out his whole insides. I shudder to think of it for I could remember those days when that happened to me years ago. It was a most horrid feeling.

Between me, Marcus and Ben, we took care of him and sent him back to NUS despite me still being quite high at that time. Then Ben sent me home.

Had a lazy Thursday and Friday until Garry called earlier to meet for dinner at West Mall. We ate at the Thai restaurant and I ordered too much, and the food was not really that nice anyway but yet expensive. Would not be going back there again.

We watched The Ugly Truth at 9.20pm and as much as I had not heard of it before, it was an extremely hilarious show. And it was not those brainless (AKA stupid) humour. And even though Gerard Butler was supposed to be the hot main lead in the show, I had my eyes on the other cute hottie, who was topless twice. OMG! :P

In any case, a sure recommendation, definitely worth the money and time to watch!

Garry's White Birthday Party in Sentosa

  • Sep. 14th, 2009 at 11:21 PM

Garry booked a room in Siloso Beach Resort (hate that place for its Zoukout memories last year, sweet bitter memories) for his early birthday celebration.

Was there at about 3pm and went swimming and tanning with some of them at the hotel's pool. We started drinking once all of us bathed, and as usual, lots of booze. I brought the bottle of Grey Goose Vodka and Inniskillin Ice Wine, they were promptly finished.

At around 6pm, we all headed down to Siloso Beach just directly in front of us, found an area somewhere near Cafe Del Mar, and set up sitting grounds there and waited for the rest to arrive, while we continued to drink and eat and take lots of photos which are now up on Facebook.

By 9pm or so, we went back up to the hotel room and Garry cut the birthday cake, which had fireworks by the sides.

I had to go and fetch Dontris in, after some slight misunderstanding. But he did not really stay long either and I accompanied him out to the tram station to get a cab to wherever he was going after that. Not long when I reached back the hotel room, most of them had left to go to Cafe Del Mar.

Not really keen on going, I stayed in the hotel room for awhile and was watching a movie when Jaryl called and said he was bored and wanted to go clubbing, Zouk being the initial plan. I declined at first, but later while watching the movie, I suddenly questioned why I was being high on alcohol in a hotel room watching movie on a Saturday night.

So since I had already earlier on decided that I would not stay for the night, and since I dislike Cafe Del Mar enough not to join the rest there, a last minute decision came to join Jaryl and his friends clubbing and I called him to say that I would rush back home to change and meet him for clubbing.

On the way back home, decision was changed to go St James Powerstation instead and since I had never really been there on a Saturday night before, and since he said his friend could get all of us on to the guestlist, I agreed.

It was quite amazing that for such a rather out-of-the-way place, it would actually be crowded, especially when the place is actually very big for a club. Nevertheless, I did enjoyed myself for the rest of the night and partied all the way till 4.30am.

I woke up on Sunday with a bad sore throat though.

Must have been all the alcohol and fried food and partying on Saturday. Still recovering from it. :(

In any case, as mentioned earlier, pictures are up on Facebook, those of you curious and interested, can check them out. :)

Mambo 09 09 09

  • Sep. 10th, 2009 at 7:00 PM

Noticed I used 09 instead of Sep? Quite a nice number, haha!

So I missed out one Mambo post, because there really wasn't anything much to post about for last week. I even went off early at around 3am last week.

Last night Mambo's was slightly crowded, surprisingly. Maybe because of 09 09 09? Ha.

A bunch of us went to Illumna's new club 7 for awhile. Zouk's legendary pioneer Mambo DJ, Adamn Low, is now the Entertainment Manager over there. But I did not really like it there and we eventually left for Zouk at 11.25pm, reaching Members' Bar at 11.45pm, still in time for 1 for 1.

Between the few of us, we got:

2 trays of Sour Plum shots
2 trays of Sex On The Beach
4 jugs of Red Devil
2 jugs of Midori 7-Up
2 jugs of erm... I think it was Bourbon something, not too sure.

Tony Tay's mixing was rather exotic last night, but I liked it. He actually played 2 House songs, and another song that had me jumping up to the center platform happily, though I already forgot what it was. It was not House though.

Peter looked rather high and Ryan told me he bought Peter 2 Extreme and when I asked what was that, Ryan explained that if Super Lambo is twice as potent as Flaming Lambo, Extreme is thrice, and I think he said it is a similiar category drink. Wow...

The gang eventually left for Winebar soon, but I had decided not to join them, wanting to stay on the dancefloor instead. I ended up dancing on various spots throughout the night.

And when I was going to the washroom once, making my way up the steps below the big screen, a gal suddenly pointed me out to her gal friend and sort of went gaga abit. It actually freaked me out because she just kept pointing me out to her friend excitedly while I stopped in surprise in front of her as she seemed to know me and was going to say hi, but she did not.

I hurriedly walked off.

I miss my ACJC fans! At least 90% of them were guys and they did not do such scary recognition actions, haha! Though they did carry me up onto some of them once, much to my embarrassment. I don't think any of them is coming back. Some of them are really cute. Haiz...

I stayed till the end, and followed Zhikai and Gerald to Shell to grab some food and drinks and also to cool down, after which I shared a cab ride back with Zhikai.

I felt bad about making Marcus unhappy much earlier on and that he eventually got dead drunk beause of me, though it will be rather rare that he does not get drunk. Just felt bad that I was the reason. I did not think he would get so affected by me being angry at him, which was why I did not want to go to the winebar. Though I did go to check up on them after getting worried that they were not back when Catherine was. They looked all right at the moment and I did not make my presence known, just went back to Zouk to dance. Maybe if I had went to join them Marcus wouldn't get drunk. Just maybe, haha! Well, at least he would not have got drunk because he was unhappy.

Anyway... it's over. Next week will be a better Mambo, one can hope.

Love,
Kes~

Sleepless

  • Aug. 31st, 2009 at 10:58 PM

This is really crazy.

Last night I was so hooked onto playing my PC game and an online strategy war game that I used to play a year back, that I forgot to sleep. And only realized I should be sleeping when the sun crept into my room.

But since it already was morning, and since I was still hooked onto my PC game, I decided to sleep in the afternoon instead.

However, Dylan chatted up with me on msn at about 11am and eventually asked if I wanted to watch a movie. I agreed and decided that maybe I would just get an early rest in the evening after dinner.

We watched Year One. It was a rather cheesy movie, I would not recommend watching it. Though it had its laughable moments, it was just too... cheesy (not to mention low budget) for me to really like it.

And while I was hanging out with him for awhile after the movie, Garry called at 5.30pm and asked if I wanted to watch a movie, haha!

And I actually agreed!

We caught the 7.45pm show for Final Destination 4 in West Mall. There was no other nice show besides that, though I am really terrified of watching 'gore' rated movies, (I simply refused to watch any movie with the rating 'gory scenes' in it) I still decided I did not really mind watching it as there would be a cute guy in it and I read somewhere there was going to be a sex scene, the 1st in the Final Destination series.

I was still rather terrified actually, and was watching the show with my palms covering my face and only watching through the slits in between my fingers. But alas! The sex scene was cut! :(

In any case, as much as it was simply pure senseless gory scenes, surprisingly I did not feel as badly disturbed as I did watching Final Destination 3 at home. 3 was much worse in its graphic display of gory deaths.

And so ends August, ends Monday from which I have not slept since Sunday, and... ends his birthday. Oh well... *shrugs*

I should be sleeping soon, I think. Good nights world!

Kes~
